                                                   TIME FOR REFLECTION. Life is a process. With Articulation's show, "Forest and Sea and the Place Between" now hanging cleverly at the Portals Gallery in Duncan BC, it is time to take a moment to reflect. Donnington, Saanich Peninsula Thinking "deeply and carefully", contemplating where we began, what evolved, what we have collectively achieved and where do we go from here?  Wow! even that sentence is complex and probably the point of today's little message from and for our group. Do you ever really take time to let your last accomplishment sink in? Did you take time to pat yourself on the back after you achieved something, anything, you had set your sights on and followed through to a conclusion? Notice I didn't attach any judgment or define accomplishment as good or bad or logically concluded. The West Coast's timber cathedrals inspired us all. Showtime in Duncan BC begins this week for Articulation Textile Group. After much planning, discussion, meeting, touring, gathering, creating, presenting, proposing, some more meetings, considerable organizing, repeat house guests, possibly some herding before we got to the point of packing, shipping and finally installing our works at the Portals Gallery.  Work from across Western Canada arrived on the Island between winter travels and family weddings in all sorts of containers and bearing a diverse group of finished works from an equally diverse group of fibre artists. Lesley Turner graciously received these packages and waited eagerly to unveil the contents. Christmas for textile artists apparently arrives in a plain wrapped oversized box. One of the things I most appreciate about the creative process is diversity. In any given class or workshop a group of people can be exposed to the same stimuli, offered the same or similar media and the products that result can be so very different. The same phenomena are true of the Articulation Textile Group and their experience of "Forest and Sea and the Place Between". Our perception of a mutual experience has been translated through our personal paradigms, we have processed our responses according to our skills and interests, and we have managed our ideas and expressed our thoughts in unique and beautiful ways. As I type these words works are being installed at the Portals Gallery in Duncan BC. ARTICULATION TEXTILE GROUP  PORTALS GALLERY MARCH 26th-APRIL 18, 2019 COWICHAN VALLEY ARTS COUNCIL ISLAND SAVINGS CENTRE 2687 JAMES ST, DUNCAN BC Articulation’s show at Portals Gallery in Duncan BC is fast approaching. West Coast Vancouver Island sunset Articulation Textile group is on the exhibition trail once again. This time we are headed to Portals Gallery, one of the Cowichan Valley Arts Council's galleries.  Find the Portals Gallery in the Island Savings Centre, 2687 James Street, Duncan BC (250) 746 1633 The gallery is open Monday to Friday 11am- 5pm, Saturday noon- 3pm. It is closed on Sundays and holidays. Articulation’s exhibition 'Forest and Sea and the Place Between' opens on Tuesday, March 27th at 11am  and closes April 18th at 5pm, 2019. An artist reception will be held Saturday, April 13th from 3-5pm with three of the artists in attendance giving talks.
