Amanda Onchulenko, work in progress, detail Processing... the work of Art. I love diving in and exploring relationships that evolve through experimentation and play. What's your process? How do textiles resonate for you in your studio practice? We would LOVE to hear from you and learn about your unique process. Articulation's, "Out of the Studio: Process" was mounted this fall at the Sherven-Smith Art Gallery in the Kerry Vicker Centre, Melfort, SK. Our combined thanks extend to Leann Clifford who undertook the mounting of the show on our behalf. Stay tuned for a subsequent blog post detailing all things Process from Leann's perspective. New Perspectives are on the Horizon for Articulation Textile Group

As summer wanes the new season brings the work of Articulation Textile Group into focus with shows mounting simultaneously in Sidney, British Columbia, and Melfort, Saskatchewan.   We are excited to announce, "Connected  Heritage" is being installed at the newly remodeled Sidney Museum, Sidney BC. The show will run from September 1st  to December 27th, 2021. The museum is open 7 days per week, 10am-4pm daily. Work on display in the newly renovated space at the Sidney Museum began with Articulation's study session in Gimli, Manitoba, in the summer of 2016. Members researched aspects of the immigrant Icelandic community that established itself on the shores of Lake Winnipeg after 1875 when almost 1/5th of the population left Iceland. Clockwise from white chair - Donna Clement, Ingrid Lincoln, Leann Clifford, Wendy Klotz, Lesley Turner, Amanda Onchulenko For over twenty years this group has been a part of my life. Members have come and gone, and we are currently standing at six. Over the years we have had 30 shows, exhibiting in so many different venues and galleries across Canada and in the United Kingdom. From the BC’s Salish Sea; to the Alberta Badlands; to the farmland of southern Saskatchewan; to Manitoba for the Icelandic heritage in Gimli; to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Old Quebec, a neighbourhood of Quebec City; to the shores of the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. All these trips (and more) were bonding experiences for our members and created a tight bond between us. I have selecte

Reflecting On Articulations's "WAR: A Personal Response", in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic

The past 15 months and the Covid-19 Pandemic will define our lifetime. Our experiences during this current struggle will surely surface in stories future generations share.  In 2017 Articulation Textile Group mounted the show "WAR: A Personal Response", which exhibited at the Sidney Museum on Vancouver Island. The work we developed through the examination of our personal family stories offered an opportunity to reflect on a significant period in our collective history. 2021 similarly offers us an opportunity for reflection.  Above, "Internment Camps", printed and folded paper, Donna Clement "Message of Peace" embroidered in morse code by Wendy Klotz Work developed in textiles illuminated threads of connection between ourselves and the wartime experiences of our families. Read on to experience snippets of the thoughtful fine workmanship of Articulation members' work that exhibited in the show. The interpretations are as viewed from my perspective. Feel
